Indigenous Journalism Awards!
Supporting the next generation of Indigenous storytellers
Recognising the significant historical and contemporary barriers to Indigenous people in journalism, the Jack Webster Foundation is pleased to issue this immediate call for applications from Indigenous journalism students and emerging Indigenous journalists for financial awards to help support their studies, internships, or freelance work.
Thanks to generous support from the BC Teachers’ Federation, these awards are open to Indigenous students at any of BC’s five journalism schools (UBC, BCIT, KPU, TRU and Langara) and to freelance Indigenous journalists in the first five years of their careers. Post-secondary students in communications, media, or writing programs as a pathway towards journalism may also apply.
Deadline for applications is December 14, 2025
Winners to be announced by December 31, 2025
