New Courses for Fall 2025
JOUR 2010: Reporting in Indigenous Communities / Decolonizing Journalism.
Students will build on their skills of reporting and storytelling while developing meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities. In this course students will critically analyze the way Indigenous Peoples in the media are represented in the hope of reimagining a decolonized media landscape.
JOUR 3540: Feature Writing
Students develop their skills in magazine-style writing and this semester they’re encouraged to focus on stories of wilderness adventure, sports and nature writing. You will learn techniques to vividly describe setting, character and use of telling details to bring your writing alive. Many students in this class have gone on to publication.
