Event Featuring Student Work

Please join Nisha Puthur Gopalakrishnan, Master of Arts in Human Rights and Social Justice student, for a screening of her short documentary ‘Distant Rainbows – The Realities of a Transgender Individual’s Life in Kerala’. This documentary explores the lived experiences of transgender individuals in Kerala, India, focusing on the continuing marginalization they endure despite progressive policies and initiatives by the government.

This documentary is Nisha’s Creative Expression project for her Master of Arts. Along with Distant Rainbows, Nisha has received permission to share the documentary “My Name Was January”; a short film created by Sher Vancouver, celebrating January, a transgender woman’s life . The creators of My Name Was January will be joining online for a discussion.
